The Catherine Best team supports a number of charitable causes both in the Channel Islands and elsewhere.
One of our chosen charities is Les Bourgs Hospice in Guernsey, which provides palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses as well as offering invaluable support to their families and friends. The hospice relies exclusively on charitable donations and fund-raising events. With annual running costs exceeding £1 million, these events are vital in order for Les Bourgs to maintain the services it provides to the Guernsey community.
Later this month over 1,000 people will don cycling helmets and lycra (well some of them) and will be pedalling around the island to raise money for the hospice. The annual fund-raising event – known as the Rock to Rocque Bike Ride - has become a firm favourite amongst both local families and more ‘serious’ cyclists alike. This year marks the event’s 22nd anniversary, and organisers hope to equal the impressive 2014 total of £40,000.
Catherine is a big supporter of Les Bourgs:
‘Les Bourgs Hospice fills an incredibly important role within the island and touches the lives of many Guernsey people. We are very proud to offer what support we can to help ensure that it can continue to deliver such a valuable service to the local Guernsey community.’
In order to raise money for the hospice, Catherine designed a pendant based on the Les Bourgs’ logo depicting a seagull flying into a setting sun. The collection and full details can be viewed here. In addition, the stylish Labyrinth range – ‘labyrinth’ being an ancient symbol relating to wholeness - is also sold in aid of the charity.
So if anyone in Guernsey feels like getting on your bike for charity, the Rock to Rocque takes place on Sunday 24th May. Online registration and full details of the event can be found here.
Good luck to everyone taking part.
