The name Aquamarine is derived from Latin and means “sea water”, given the colours of the stones this is a fairly understandable choice of name. This gemstone is a popular clear blue variety of the gemstone species Beryl that also includes a green variety commonly known as Emerald.
Now largely considered to be the modern birthstone for March, Aquamarine is associated with courage and the release of fears, is thought to soothe and has traditionally been given to sailors to protect them at sea. Catherine loves to use large Aquamarines for unique pendants and beautiful summer inspired dress rings. Smaller pieces of this coloured stone lend themselves perfectly for use in a number of the more delicate limited edition Aquamarine jewellery ranges.
